By using master pages we can maintain uniformness of web pages like headers footers and any thing common to each page all this common features we can placed in master page

Mastes page includes a content place holder with it. Master page is used to apply all the design to the pages you have add to your website and select that master accept the content place holder. You can add any thing to this area. All other things remains unchanged.

Master pages are used for designing purpose in building our websites let suppose there are multiple pages in our website and majority of them posses same design then instead of designing pages individually we can use there a master page which is designed for only once and used in individual pages separately
